Readiness

 

Hours of Operation

7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Monday - Friday

The Plainfield Readiness Program is located at the Plainfield Early Childhood Center and is administered under the Plainfield Family Resource Center.  It serves sixteen (16) children ranging in age from 2.9 to 5 years old.  The program is funded through a state school readiness grant.  It received the NAEYC accreditation in 2001.

Eligibility

Children must be 2.9 - 4 years of age and reside in the Town of Plainfield which includes the villages of Plainfield, Moosup, Central Village and Wauregan.  Parents must be working or in school.

A child under the age of 3 may enroll in the months of September, October, November or December if s/he turns three by December 31st of that year.

Children must be toilet trained except for those with special needs.  Acceptance of special needs children will be decided individually on the basis of the program's ability to meet the needs of the child.

Children may only be admitted after a parent intake interview.

Registration Information

Before a child can attend the Readiness Program the following paperwork must be received:

  1. A recent (within one year) Health Assessment Form including immunization records signed by the physician.  This is required by the State of Connecticut.

  2. A birth certificate must be presented for photocopying.

  3. Any necessary medication forms.

  4. Readiness Program Contract form.

  5. Program Registration form.

  6. Readiness Program Acknowledgment form.

  7. Person Information form.

Fees

Fees are based on a sliding scale from $1.25 to $3.25 per hour.  The amount paid per hour is determined at the intake interview.  The fee holds an opening for a specific amount of time for the child.  Parents will be charged for the agreed amount of time whether the child attends or not.  This includes early pick up.  Ten unpaid vacation days are given to each child when written notice is received one week in advance.    Additional program time may be added upon request if there are time slots available.  Billing will be done weekly on the first school day of the week.  Payment is expected on the next day.  A $5.00 late fee will be added to bills unpaid after 5 days.  Continuing problems with untimely payment may result in dismissal from the program.
