March 20, 2017
Wednesday, April 5, 2017, is the Connecticut SAT School Day and Science CAPT administration. SAT and Science CAPT scores are used by the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) for school and district accountability purposes. The CSDE adheres to all federal and state data privacy laws and does not release student data to third parties, including colleges or universities.
All junior (3rd year) students will participate in the SAT and all sophomores (2nd year) the science CAPT assessment. The SAT is paper/pencil and the CAPT is via on-line. The sophomore students will be using their chrome books to access the website. If your child does not have access to a chrome book one will be provided to them on the day of the testing. Please encourage your child to bring their charged chrome book for the day.
It is important that your child be ready to test. A good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast is highly recommended. Snacks will be provided during a test session break. All students will have the opportunity to attend lunch as usual; however, students will be dismissed from school at 1:15. Two additional busses will be available at 1:50. If you have any questions regarding the assessment, please feel free to contact your child’s guidance counselor for more information.
Due to the number of faculty testing students in the SAT and CAPT, the senior and freshman classes will NOT report to school on April 5, 2017. The district schedules 181 days for instruction, which is one extra day than the state mandates, therefore, your child will not be losing instructional time. All students will report to school on April 6th to resume a regular school day.
