Art I, Quarter Course focusing on design with creative, artistic problem-solving activities in color harmony, balance, shapes, values, textures. Students also explore printmaking and creation of original artists’ books.
Art II, Semester course in drawing and painting
Advanced Drawing , Quarter Course
Pottery, Quarter Course in hand building and wheel-throwing techniques
Sculpture, Quarter Course, Students create 3-dimensional works in a variety of materials.
Pottery and Sculpture are usually offered every other year
The Art Program offers opportunities to take field trips to art museums in NYC and Hartford, attend the annual regional, hands-on art symposium, create art with art students from area high schools, exhibit artwork within PHS’s art showcases, exhibit in the greater community and enter art shows and art contests.
