STEPS for SUCCESS from Mrs. Longbons
Calculators and equipment must be brought to class each day.
Calculator requirement: A scientific calculator or a graphing calculator
Binder requirement: A three ring binder for math only.
When the bell rings books and binders should be opened to the appropriate pages.
Binders will be collected and graded.
HOMEWORK: All HOMEWORK is to be done in the binder, taking special care to write down the original problem, not just the answer. HOMEWORK will be checked daily. A student will begin with a grade of 40/40 for the course. Any day that the HOMEWORK is not available at the beginning of class, the student loses ONE point. If only answers appear, the student will still lose ONE point. NO WORK, NO CREDIT! All HOMEWORK must be made up, regardless of excuse.
Some homework assignments will be collected and graded. They must be handed in at the beginning of class the day they are due. One day late will result in a 25% grade reduction; 2 days—50%, and so on.
TESTS: Tests and quizzes are graded with a raw score: (# right) ÷ (# of possible right). If absent, the test will be made up after school the day the student returns. Each day of delay will result in the same grade reduction as a collected homework assignment. When a test is failed, the grade may be adjusted if the student comes for help after school within one week after the test has been returned. The above becomes null and void if the student is not regularly doing homework.
Extra Help is available on most days after school or by appointment.
Class participation is necessary for SUCCESS!
(a) One minute late to class == ten minutes after school.
(b) When a student is tardy and a quiz is in progress, the student will not be allowed to take the quiz or make it up, resulting in a ZERO.
CUTS: If a class is cut during a test or quiz the result is ZERO.
CHEATING == ZERO
No Food or Beverages (except water) will be allowed in the classroom.
