We are off to a great start at Plainfield Memorial School. As I walk through our halls daily, I am amazed at how quickly we all fell back into the routine. Students are engaged in discussion over their reading, learning the different algebraic principals and improving their communication skills in writing. Friendships are reconnected and new ones are being created. Plainfield Memorial School is a wonderful place to be.
We have established both academic and stakeholder goals for the 2015-2016 school year. We hope to improve our instruction in writing as fourth and fifth grade students are expected to write in three genres of writing: narrative, informational and persuasive. We also plan to address the achievement gap for our students that struggle with math, reading and attendance. Many parents responded in our survey last year that they are unsure if teachers and students at Plainfield Memorial School accept differences in each other. Teachers and staff believe this is a strength of ours and we are committed this year to show our stakeholders the many ways we embrace the diversity of our student body.
I hope to see everyone at our fall events. We are excited to have our partners at EASTCONN sponsor a math night on October 29th. Please save the date. More information will follow.

“Uniqueness at PMS:
This month students at PMS created Poems for Two Voices identifying and celebrating
qualities that make us different . At our town meeting we enjoyed listening to some of the talented musicians we have in our school. Each of us has talents and gifts that make us special.
