Mock Interviews were held twice during the 2017/2018 school year; on March 27th and April 6th.  165 seniors and juniors took advantage of the opportunity to be interviewed by professionals.   Students practiced their interviewing skills and received feedback from the interviewers.

I would sincerely like to thank the following businesses and organizations. Without your support and the willingness of your employees to be volunteer interviewers it would not have been possible to offer this “real world” experience to our students.

With Appreciation,

The mock interviews are important for students because they get you prepared for a real interview. They also help build your confidence level and take away from your anxiety. Like for me I was really nervous and was not prepared to answer the questions the first time. Coming in my second time I knew exactly what to say and I had all my thoughts brought together and was ready to answer.

11th Grade Female Student:

The mock interviews should be considered a learning experience no student should pass up. This is due to the fact that many juniors and seniors have not had an official interview; and whether they have or not, they most likely will not stay at a minimum wage job for the entirety of their lives. The mock interviews helps prepare the student for the real world, and what to expect when you arrive at said interview. It also helps relieve tension for when you arrive at an official interview because you are more prepared and experienced each time you attend. This year was my first year attending, as I am currently a junior. However, I had went to both activities. I would definitely recommend going to the mock interviews next time you get an opportunity!

12th Grade Male Student:

Although I do believe the mock interviews should be for sophomores more than seniors, they were very productive the two years I participated. Year one I was nervous and I was not prepared and had no idea the type of questions that would be asked. Year two, I ended up being much more prepared and I feel like I am ready for an interview of any kind. I participated twice in year two, so even when the third time came around I felt like a professional at taking interviews, they are very helpful and informative. In my two years of doing the interviews the number of students participating increased, this should be mandatory to all students at PHS.

11th Grade Female Student:

I really enjoyed the mock interviews! I personally feel better prepared than I ever have for getting a job. I wish they would have offered them to me before I was 16. I felt very comfortable in the interview. The only thing I wish was different was that it could have been more private. After doing both interviews offered to me, I feel more confident about getting interviewed.
