Plainfield Public Schools Announces Leadership Appointments at Plainfield High School
Stacey Kelleher

Plainfield, CT – November 19, 2025 – At the November Board of Education meeting, Plainfield Public Schools announced two key leadership appointments at Plainfield High School (PHS), effective November 24, 2025. Stacey W. Kelleher has been named the new Principal of PHS, and Erin Quinn has been appointed Interim Assistant Principal for the first semester of the 2025–2026 school year. Both leaders bring exceptional qualifications, deep ties to the district, and a shared commitment to fostering strong academic and social-emotional growth for all students.

Mrs. Stacey W. Kelleher Named Principal of Plainfield High School

A distinguished educational leader and long-time member of the Plainfield Public Schools community, Stacey W. Kelleher brings extensive administrative experience and a proven record of promoting positive school climate. Her leadership history reflects a strong focus on academic excellence, relationship-building, and restorative practices.

Kelleher has served as Assistant Principal at PHS since 2019 and previously spent seven years as Assistant Principal at Plainfield Central Middle School. Her 12 years of administrative leadership have included guiding academic program development, managing pilot curriculum initiatives in Science and Language Arts, and establishing opportunities for at-risk students through the district’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). She has also collaborated closely with counselors to expand comprehensive social-emotional programming.

A former business education teacher at PHS and Griswold High School, Kelleher was recognized as Teacher of the Year in 2009. Her additional accomplishments at Plainfield High School include: co-chairing the NEASC Accreditation Steering Committee in 2010, coordinating visiting committee responsibilities, and co-editing accreditation documentation; leading the revision of PHS’s Mission, Core Values and Beliefs, and school-wide rubrics; and chairing the District & School Climate Committee at the middle school, where she developed survey tools and protocols to strengthen school climate and culture.

Kelleher holds a Sixth Year Degree of Advanced Study in Administration and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Sacred Heart University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Eastern Connecticut State University.

Accepting the position Mrs. Kelleher noted,  “To accept the principalship in the town that raised me, is truly an honor.  I feel a profound sense of pride for our school community and look forward to the opportunity to lead Plainfield High School as we build upon our school culture, climate, and innovative programming to prepare our students for success beyond graduation.”

Erin Quinn Appointed Interim Assistant Principal

Plainfield High School is also pleased to announce that Erin Quinn has been selected as Interim Assistant Principal, serving through the first semester. Quinn is a dedicated educator with experience in both classroom instruction and district-level instructional support.

Most recently, Quinn has served as the district’s Instructional Technology Coach, supporting teachers in integrating technology effectively into curriculum and instruction. Prior to this role, she was a valued mathematics teacher at Plainfield Central Middle School, where she demonstrated strong instructional leadership and a commitment to student growth.

The full-time Assistant Principal position will be posted this evening and will remain open until December 5. The district is planning to have a new full-time Assistant Principal in place by the end of the first semester January 16th.

I am excited and honored to support Plainfield High School in this interim position.  Plainfield has a special place in my heart and I look forward to helping the school make a smooth transition to their new leadership.”

Superintendent Paul Brenton:
“Mrs.  Kelleher has consistently demonstrated an exceptional work ethic and the highest standards of professionalism throughout her many years in Plainfield. Her dedication to students, staff, and the school community gives me tremendous confidence as she steps into the role of Principal. I am equally confident that the addition of Erin Quinn as Interim Assistant Principal will strengthen the leadership team during this transition. Together, their experience, commitment, and vision will ensure continued success for Plainfield High School.”

Board of Education Chairperson Mr Mike Broughton:
We regret Mr. Peel’s early departure but sincerely thank him for his dedicated service and extend our best wishes to him and his family for the future. We are pleased to continue working with Ms. Kelleher in her new role as Principal of PHS and express our gratitude to Ms. Quinn for stepping in as Interim Assistant Principal during this transition.”

Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well.

Recently, a family reached out to me directly to share their concerns after hearing gunshots in the area while on our school grounds during the evenings. I know that for many of you—and certainly for our students—hearing these sounds can be unsettling. I want to thank those who contacted me; open communication is the foundation of our partnership, and I appreciate you bringing this to my attention.

I am writing today to provide some reassurance and context. As we navigate life in our beautiful rural corner of Eastern Connecticut, we are reminded that hunting is a long-standing tradition in our region. With the firearms hunting season officially opening this week, it is not uncommon for sounds from nearby properties to carry onto our campus, particularly on clear, crisp days. It is helpful to note that in open rural terrain, the sound of a gunshot can travel and be heard clearly from up to two miles away. This means that while a shot may be audible on our campus, the activity is likely occurring at a safe distance on private property.

Please know that the safety and security of your children and our community is my absolute highest priority. We maintain a constant, open line of communication with the Police Department regarding any report of gunshots, whether during the school day or after hours.

Furthermore, I have been working closely with our Chief of Police, who has proactively spoken with the some homeowners whose properties are near our schools. These neighbors are committed members of our community who care deeply about our students' safety. They are working with law enforcement and adhering to all safety boundaries away from school property.

While the sound of hunting is a part of living in our area this time of year, we will never be complacent about safety. We will continue to remain vigilant and work hand-in-hand with the police to ensure our schools remain a safe haven for all.

Thank you for your trust, your understanding, and for being such vital partners in our school community.

Warmly,

Paul M. Brenton

Dear Parents and Guardians;

As we continue through the school year, we want to send a reminder about the safety protocols we have in place. While this information was shared at the start of the year, we feel it is important to send it again as a reminder and to answer any questions you may have.

The safety and security of our students and staff are our highest priorities. To ensure our campus is prepared for any situation, we have adopted the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), a nationally recognized and best-practice method for emergency response. We want to take this opportunity to re-familiarize you with the protocol and the terms we will be using with students during our safety drills.

The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based on a set of clear, concise, and shared actions that can be implemented in any emergency. This consistent vocabulary allows our students, staff, and first responders to communicate effectively and act quickly. The protocol is built around five core directive actions: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter.

Throughout the school year, we will conduct drills to practice these actions. This preparation is crucial to ensure that everyone on campus understands and can perform these critical safety procedures with confidence.

To help you and your child understand the specific terms and actions used during our drills, we have created a simple guide. Please find a link attached to this email. We encourage you to review it with your student so they are familiar with the terminology.

Your partnership is essential to our school safety plan. In the event of an actual emergency, please wait for official communication from the school or district for instructions.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to maintain a safe and secure learning environment for our entire school community.
Sincerely,

Paul M. Brenton

August 27th, 2025

Good Morning Plainfield Families,

Welcome to the new school year! With students returning tomorrow, Thursday, August 28th, the excitement is definitely in the air. We've heard from several parents with last-minute questions, and we are always happy to help everyone get ready for a great start.

One common question has been about handling school lunch money, so I wanted to share some helpful information with all of our families. Students are able to bring money into the school and deposit into their student accounts directly.  For families who wish to deposit into the lunch account online, Chartwells uses a handy online service called MyPaymentsPlus to manage student meal accounts, making it simple to ensure your child always has funds for a healthy lunch.

MyPaymentsPlus is a secure website that lets you manage everything in one place. You can:

    Getting Signed Up is Easy

You'll just need your child's Student ID number to get started (you can find this on a report card, logging into Infinite Campus, or by calling the school office).

    1.     Go to the website:www.MyPaymentsPlus.com

    2.         Register: Click the "Register Now" button.

    3.         Find our district: Choose Connecticut and then Plainfield Public Schools.

    4.         Create your account: Enter your name, email, and a password.

    5.   Add your student(s): Follow the prompts to add your child using their Student ID number and last name. You can link all of your children to one account.

We've found this is a really helpful tool for families. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact your school's main office for help.

We are all looking forward to a wonderful first day back! Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is a half-day, and there will be no school this Monday in observance of Labor Day.

    All the best,
    Paul M. Brenton
